Disable WordPress Plugin Updates on Blog

Filed under Labs

Here is a simple snippet which disables plugin updates on any WordPress blog. WordPress is an amazing content management system which thrills hundreds of developers every day. By default WordPress checks automatically for any updates including plugins. If you are customizing WordPress for a client then it will not better to show always these update notification on admin panel, because some times you rebranded WordPress as your own, so here is a good way to disable the automatic checking function for updates. Simply paste the following snippet into your functions.php, save it, and you’re done.

<?php
/**

 * WordPress function to disables plugin updates

 *

 */
remove_action( 'load-update-core.php', 'wp_update_plugins' );
add_filter( 'pre_site_transient_update_plugins', create_function( '$a', "return null;" ) );
?>
