How To Select Proper image format for websites

Comparing to websites in late 90’s today’s websites are more attractive than old with its layout. Most of modern websites uses a rich mix of images with scripts. Here are some tips for designers to select proper image format while designing a website.
There a mainly 3 types of image format which is commonly using in web, that’s:

. JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group)

. GIF (Graphics Interchange Format)

.PNG (Portable Network Graphics)

If you want to store photos then .JPEG format is a perfect choice. It can compress photos than BMP. It is one of the common formats which are used in websites. For better compression use ‘Save For Web’ option in Adobe Photoshop.

. GIF (Graphics Interchange Format)
GIF format is limited to 256 colors so it will be better for storing lines, texts and small icons etc. It is also best choice for old browsers which is not compact with .PNG (Portable Network Graphics) formats. .GIF format can hold animations, so if need some blinking buttons use this format in your website.

.PNG (Portable Network Graphics)
.PNG (Portable Network Graphics) is a lossless compression format which means it keeps images without losing its original quality. It is one of the best solutions where transparency is needed.
