WordPress software comes with an inbuilt auto-updating feature, that is a good thing, but ever you think about the situation when auto -updating becomes failure? So before pressing “Please update now.” button do the following things to minimize risk in losing of data.

We strongly recommended you to backup the following before Auto Updating

1.) root directory .htaccess
2.) wp-config.php
3.) wp-content directory
4.) other important scripts in your blog (custom-made and not part of the WordPress core files).
5.) WordPress database
6.) robots.txt – if you are using this.
7.) wp-includes/languages –if your blog uses a language file.
